VESPA 125 g.t.r

Restoration
This project was particularly unique, largely due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The scooter in question is a 1974 Piaggio Vespa 125 G.T.R., owned by Luciano D’Ambrosio, a renowned automotive designer based in Italy. He commissioned the restoration of this cherished scooter, which he has owned since it rolled off the factory line. Unfortunately, the Vespa had been neglected in a garage for over 15 years..
During that time, it developed several serious issues. Rust had compromised the body, engine, chrome accents, mechanical components, and wheels; in some areas, the metal had completely corroded away. The Vespa had also endured a couple of minor accidents, resulting in dented side covers and a twisted front body shield. All rubber components had become brittle and broken, the tail light was shattered, the seat was destroyed, and the steering mechanism was severely damaged, indicating that the bearings were no longer functional. Additionally, fuel had been left in the tank, leading to significant deterioration, and the engine had completely seized.
As I mentioned earlier, the restoration took place during the pandemic, which turned out to be an unexpected advantage. With the lockdown in effect, I found myself with ample time to dedicate to the Vespa.
I received the scooter on October 18, 2020, and delivered it back to Luciano on March 28, 2021. Those five months were filled with pure joy, as I worked on the Vespa during the days when we were unable to go out, and in the evenings in my garage..
The final result was nothing short of spectacular. However, the highlight of the project was witnessing Luciano's reaction when he saw his beloved Vespa restored for the first time.
