Ideas driven
by innovation.

In 2005, we partnered with DIGARE Design to create a toothbrush that captured the spirit of its time, leveraging the latest production technologies. With the introduction of bi-component materials to the market, we explored new possibilities in both function and aesthetics.

Our client, Placecol, has always been driven by innovation — continuously evolving their brand and product line to stay ahead of the curve. By commissioning this project, they reinforced their commitment to progress and positioned themselves as a leader in the industry.

As you scroll down, you’ll find the prototype gallery. Back in 2005, 3D printing was not as advanced or accessible as it is today. The prototype was produced using the first powder-based 3D printer available in Bogotá. Its resolution was quite limited, which required extensive post-processing to refine the final model.

  • The handle has a slight curve along its length, which improves reach to back teeth and reduces wrist strain.
  • The thicker midsection likely gives a firmer grip compared to straight, slim handles.
  • The tapered neck narrows before the head, allowing better maneuverability inside the mouth.
  • The body made of Polypropylene (PP) for structure.
  • The blue areas are made of TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomers) for anti-slip grip and added comfort.
  • The smooth transitions between the plastic and rubber suggest it’s designed for durability and easy cleaning.
  • The bristle cluster has a slightly curved profile, which helps follow the contours of teeth.
  • The outer blue bristles may be firmer for gumline cleaning, while the inner white bristles appear softer for polishing.
  • Bristle density is medium — not too sparse, not overly packed, suggesting a balance between cleaning power and gentleness.
